Auskick Newsletter Round 10

…and we are back!!!!!

After a weekend of wet weather and the long weekend break, Auskick is back at Tom Hunter Park this Sunday (19th June)!

As we get closer to the school holiday break and the half-way mark of the season, our little Auskickers are starting to demonstrate some fantastic skills during our Auskick games. Over the next couple of weeks, these games will become more of a focus during our sessions so that by the end of the season our older players will be ready for Under 9’s next year.

Over the next few weeks, there will be a number of new players joining our group, so please make our new families feel welcome.

Auskick Gala Day: Sunday 3rd July – Greygums Oval, Cranebrook

This week the AFL announced that all games that were scheduled for Sunday 5th June, have been moved to Sunday 3rd July, the designated wet weather round for the season. This also includes the Auskick Gala Day at Greygums Oval.

All the details remain the same:

Please note that there will be NO Auskick at Tom Hunter Park on the 3rd July.

These days are a great opportunity for all the Auskickers across Western Sydney to get together for an Auskick skill session and play their first games against other clubs. As these days are also very busy with lots of players, it is important for players to wear their Blue Mountains colours, so they
can be easily identifiable by coaches and AFL Development Officers.

To avoid parking miles from the ground, if families can arrive by 8am, you should be able to find a parking space. Below is a map of the ground and a link. The best place to find parking will be along Laycock Street.

To assist the AFL in catering for the day, please let me know this weekend if you will be attending.

If you need to contact me at any stage, please don’t hesitate to contact me via my mobile 0414 250 493.

School Holiday Weekend: Sunday 10th July – Official parents sleep-in round!

There will be no Auskick on the middle weekend of the July school holidays. So enjoy the sleep-in (if the kids let you!). And we will see you back at Tom Hunter Park the following weekend – Sunday 17th July.

Auskick Registrations are still open

It’s not too late! Registrations are still open for Auskick, so if you have a friend or two who may be interested in giving Auskick a go, invite them along this weekend!!

Wet Weather Footy

With winter coming and the possibility of rain throughout the week, you may want to keep an eye on the Notice Board on our website. By clicking on the Wet Weather link, you can check in to see if Tom Hunter Park is open or closed.

If the ground has been closed by the council due to wet weather, this page will be immediately updated. Due to player safety and compliance with insurance regulations, if the ground is closed for any reason players are not permitted to train or play.

Volunteers Needed!

Thank you to those parents who will be helping in the canteen and on the BBQ this weekend.

wecandoit

Assisting in the canteen is one of the most important roles on game day. Not only does it help lighten the load on our wonderful canteen coordinator, but it assists in providing our club with much need funds to pay umpires and purchase equipment for all BMK teams.

Please remember that it takes a team of volunteers to make the magic happen each week! For our small club, every hand makes a difference, so thank you in advance for your support.

Auskick Tip of the Week

Sit down and watch the footy!!

This may sound like a strange Auskick Tip, but by sitting down to watch a game of footy each week, both parents and Auskickers develop a greater understanding of AFL – the rules, the skills, how the players run across the ground, the role of each position, and a great opportunity to follow your favourite team.

Remember to bring your footy along each week. Make sure it is labelled with your first name, last name and the club initials BMK, that way you can use it during our skill sessions!

Auskick Action Shots

If you happen to take any amazing action shots, or a photo that is just too cute for words, make sure you share it on our Facebook or Twitter page. Or you can send them through to me and I will include them in future newsletters.

All photos will also contribute towards our presentation day slideshow at the end of the season.

GWS Giants

After an amazing win over the Sydney Swans last weekend, the GIANTS head to Etihad stadium to take on the bombers for the first time in 2016. The GIANTS scored the points when these two teams last met, can they do it again away from home? Tune in on Sunday 19th June at 4:40pm to find out.
